Dwight kindergarten has been learning about butterflies in science the last month. To help them learn about the life cycle they got cups of caterpillars to raise. 9/10 successfully grew into butterflies and this morning the boys released them into the 5/6 grade garden!
Dwight Kindergarten read the story "Bread Comes to Life" a couple of weeks ago. Today Mrs. Hines brought in her bread machine for time to make their own bread! Thank you Mrs. Hines for making our story come to life for us and helping us make a yummy snack!!
Congratulations to the following students for being named NCPA Academic All-State in their respective activities in the spring.
Due to the predicted weather this afternoon, the junior high track meet today has been canceled.
The greenhouse still has a great selection of plants, designed containers, & baskets. Great Mothers Day gifts! Contact Mrs. Kocian to arrange a time.
Wow! The plant & Tiger Den sale was amazing! The kids were so willing to help the entire day and did it all with a smile! The community support is always there and we are grateful for that! Plants that are left will be available throughout the week.
Today, we were requested to go into a "hold-secure" of our facilities. This request came from the Butler County Sheriff's Office. This was done out of caution. Often, the school is provided with very little information to go on. I know this can be frustrating, but the information that we share is the information that we know. We are not going to speculate on what is occurring, we want to make sure we have the facts before they are shared. Our priority will always be keeping everyone in the buildings safe.
Included in this post are our procedures regarding how we approach certain situations. A "hold or secure" is NOT a lockdown. When we are placed in hold or secure, we continue with business as usual. Entrance into the building is monitored. I hope that this explains our procedures a little bit more. Thank you for your understanding!
Mr. Eldridge
We have been given the ok. School will be released at 2:30pm.
Due to a safety situation in the Brainard community, the Butler County Sheriff's office has requested that we put the buildings on "hold". This means students and staff are not to go outside the building. If you plan to come to the building for the senior vs. staff game, please come to the east main entrance.
Plant sale, succulent bar, & Tiger Den sale starts at 3:30 today! Students have put so much time and talents into this! Come see us!
The East Butler class of 2024 seniors enjoyed one of their last class memories as they went to TOPGOLF in Omaha.

The 4th graders had the pleasure of listening to Sharon Bruner, Carolyn Dvorak, and Genevieve Behne present information about Brainard's history and what school was like when they were little. Thank you ladies for coming into the classroom, we loved it!
Congratulations to the girls junior high track team finishing 3rd in the CRC track meet; 4 points away from 1st.

NHS FOOD DRIVE UPDATE!
It has come to my attention that Dwight's students' contributions to the NHS food drive were never counted. An estimated count brings the grand total to over 1650 items delivered to the David City food pantry.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed!
